Adams Beats Stoney in Football and Cornhole

Both pairs warming up for their final match

It’s one of the biggest rivalries in Rochester–and it all led up to the final game.

The Adams and Stoney Creek National Honors Societies teamed up to put on a cornhole tournament between the two schools. The tournament took place during the tailgate on Friday, October 25th, a few hours before the Adams and Stoney football teams faced off on the field. In preparation for the tournament, brackets were made and narrowed down to four teams per school. The Adams teams consisted of  juniors Charlie Buckmaster and Peter Massura, Will Bass and Zeke King, Andrew Jankowski and Maverick Falconer, and seniors Billy Peters and Brenden Kevelighan.

“I never doubted [our] ability to win and put the bags in the hole,” said Kevelighan, after the team’s win.

When asked if the pair used a strategy to win the tournament, Peters responded, “You just have to focus on getting it in the hole and good things are bound to happen.”

The cornhole victory was only the beginning of success for Adams High School Friday night. The Adams football team beat Stoney Creek in a fourth quarter showdown 21-14. If the cornhole tournament continues, Adams may have a tradition of beating Stoney Creek in football and cornhole.
