Roncelli makes a key tackle to keep victory within reach.

For the first time since 2009, the Rochester Adams Highlanders, led by junior duo Chase Kareta and Stephen Roncelli, defeated the Farmington Harrison Hawks on Friday, September 23.  The Highlanders played a dominating brand of smash mouth football that earned them their fourth win of the season, inching closer to clinching a playoff berth.

Down 7-0 in the early second quarter, the offense looked in Roncelli’s direction to get the instant spark they needed. Sure enough, Roncelli made an instant impact and tied the game at 7 with a 20 yard touchdown when he caught quarterback Kyle Wood’s pass. This sparked a 21 to 0 run that was capped off by a 5 yard touchdown run between the tackles by Chase Kareta in the fourth quarter. A goal line stand, anchored by Roncelli and Kareta, stalled a long drive by Harrison that put the game out of reach, giving Adams a season-defining win.

“This was a huge win for our team, considering this is the first time in seven years we came out on top over Harrison. We know we are a great team and can accomplish great things if our high level of play continues,” said junior Chase Kareta.
