Adams Wins Regional Boys’ Soccer Title
Through blood, sweat, and tears, the Rochester Adams Varsity Boys Soccer Team pulled out a win against Clarkston High School on Saturday.
The game included two intense overtime periods and two rounds of penalty shootouts. Sophomore Dylan Brown came up with a huge save and pushed Adams to win the game 2-1.
After two overtime periods, the teams were still tied and moved into penalty shootouts.
“I felt really nervous, but at the same time, I was confident in myself and in my teammates. Also, I felt confident with Dylan in the net,” said junior Devin Beyer.
After a 3-3 tie in the first round of penalty kicks, the teams prepared for a second round.
Adams scored all three of their penalty kicks, and Clarkston scored both of theirs, leaving Clarkston with no other choice than to score their penalty kick. Brown saved the final shot and secured Adams’ title.
“I felt so relieved when he saved that shot. We finally secured the result we deserved,” said junior Ali Ahmed.
The team will take on undefeated Fraser High School in the semifinals this Wednesday at Lake Orion High School.
“We are excited to be in the final four but not satisfied. Fraser is undefeated, but we have beaten undefeated teams before. It will be a close game, but I think we can do it,” said senior captain Kevin Lencioni.
