Foreign Language Week Kicks-Off at AHS
Every year, Adams foreign language students participate in Foreign Language Week. The theme this year is Diversity in Detroit and festivities will be taking place all this week.
Activities throughout the week include student presentations on their heritages and group presentations on different ethnic groups in Detroit. Many Highlanders have made foreign language week t-shirts to wear on Wednesday, March 11.
“It’s our final foreign language week, as seniors, and with the theme about our hometown Detroit, we wanted to go all out. Our shirts incorporate aspects of Detroit and Spanish culture. They’re really cool,” said senior Isabelle Koos.
Finally, on Friday, March 13, many students will be a fasting for ten hours during the day with all proceeds going towards Habitat for Humanity. Over the past thirteen years, Adams has raised $76,000 for Habitat for Humanity.
“A lot of people think that going ten hours without eating is difficult but when you think about it, many people go without food for days on end. I participate every year and personally challenge anyone who has never fasted to get involved,” said Spanish teacher Mr. Joe Ciluffo.
