Adams DECA Organizes Miracle Minute Fundraiser
The Miracle Minute, organized by Adams DECA and its adviser Mr. Vincent Lopiccolo, will take place during sixth hour on November 19 at 2:25 p.m.
The Miracle Minute is a nationally recognized competition that raises money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) in order to help send children with muscle diseases to summer camp.
“I think this is a great fundraiser, and everyone should definitely participate,” said DECA member junior Cynthia Lee.
An announcement will mark the beginning of the competition, and students in each class will race to collect as much money as possible in one minute. Money will be collected in a bucket at the front of each classroom and can be donated in spare change, bills, and checks. After sixth hour, DECA club members will collect and count the money. Last year, Adams raised over $3,500 for MDA, and DECA hopes Adams will break that record this Wednesday.
“Community service is important to all DECA members. We just want to help kids get to camp,” said Lopiccolo.
As an incentive to donate, DECA teamed up with National Honor Society and Key Club to recruit food venders who will cater parties for the winning sixth hour classes. The first place class will be given its choice of Buffalo Wild Wings, Hungry Howie’s on Silver Bell, or Lucky’s, and second and third place will choose from the remaining two choices. The top four classes will also receive Cold Stone ice cream, and every class will be entered into a raffle for the opportunity win additional prizes.
Get ready Adams, because it is time to break open those piggy banks and donate to a worthy cause. It just takes a minute!
