Prior to the 2017-2018 school year, Rochester Adams High School did not have a way for artists to express their artwork in public, but now there is a fun interesting outlet that artists can use to get their work out there. Fringe Fest is a music and arts festival where young artists at Adams can present and sell their work at prices they deem are appropriate.

This is a chance for artists of any kind to have an outlet for their creativity and to share products with people who could be interested in purchasing them. It is a fun and productive way for students to make some money by producing a variety of art. Because there is not any strict rules against what can and cannot be sold, all different types of pieces can be made and purchased. This is the first time this program is available at Adams and is being organized by twelfth grader Ciara Sosnowski.

She believes it is  important to support young artists and is happy that she can give all the talented artists at adams an outlet to share their work and express themselves in a creative way.“I decided to organize Fringe Fest because I think that there are so many talented artists and musicians at Adams, and I wanted to give them a place to share their art with their family and peers,” said Sosnowski after being asked what motivated her to start and organize a program like this at adams.

Fringe Fest  lets students express their talents in a fun and productive way. All a participant had to do is send in pictures of their artwork to [email protected]. This is to confirm that participants have a product that they wish to sell and that they know how they want to sell it. Everyone participating had to submit photos of their artwork to the email above by March 22. There is also a “Remind 101” that participants need to sign up for to receive information about the event, signing up is as simple as texting @fringefest to 8010.

“I’m really excited to be part of this whole thing, especially since it’s the first of hopefully many, and will be a good experience to get all our work out there to whatever audience there is. I will be participating in the visual art part of the event,” said junior Gabby Mack.

The festival is Friday, May 18 from 5 – 9 p.m. and will have great music, artwork, and food. It is going to be a fun day for the artists who participate and the people who come to watch and purchase items.
