American Horror Story Season 6 Premiere: Nightmarish or a Nightmare?
As fall creeps eerily forward, so do its terrifying, spooktacular, and downright graphic seasonal television shows and movies. American Horror Story is one of fall’s most hyped shows, and for a good reason. After the premiere of its sixth season on September 14, fans from around the world are shocked, disturbed, and… disappointed?
While the premiere was chock full of fantastic thrills, many of the main actors and actresses, like Lady Gaga and Evan Peters, did not appear in the season premiere, a huge disappointment to American Horror Story fans.
“I feel like everyone built up a lot of expectations, and it wasn’t as good as people thought it would be,” said sophomore Andrea Zorrilla. “It started off really confusing and boring, but it got better and it went along.”
Additionally, as each season is themed, many fans find the theme of “My Roanoke Nightmare” either confusing, uninteresting, or just plain weird, and not in a good way. Some fans, including Zorrilla, have theories about this season connecting to the first season’s Murder House theme.
“I know there’s connections to Murder House because the Roanoke story [involves croatoan] and in Murder House they use croatoan [magic] to get rid of the spirits, so hopefully they’ll show that,” said Zorrilla.
Whether American Horror Story season six is as fantastically creepy as the other seasons is still up for debate, but the unique filming style is sure to make for a memorable season. The new, documentary-like style has provoked many questions, theories, and debates among fans.
Not all are in favor of this new style of filming. “A documentary style for American Horror Story? They could have done so much better,” said Junior Ashley Troutman.
In the end, fans will just have to wait and see what happens, and hopefully, “My Roanoke Nightmare” will become what it claims to be: a nightmare. Catch this perfectly paralyzing show on Wednesdays at 10 pm.on the channel FX.
