Adams Theatre Participates in 19th Annual Lovefest Festival
The theater is known as a safe-space for many individuals across the world. Every year, Adams Theatre participates in Lovefest also known as the Mid-Michigan Theater Festival.
Lovefest is an annual February festival where 16 different high schools across the state prepare shows for their peers to enjoy. This year, the festival is set to take place at Garber High School in Essexville, Michigan on February 3-4.
“I’m very excited to be playing the Wild One in Cagebirds this year,” said junior Sophia Williams. “It’s a dream honestly-she’s such a fiery character, and she fights for what she believes in. The show itself is super amazing, the whole cast is so talented, it is mind blowing. Everyone has been working their absolute hardest for this performance and it really shows. I can’t wait for everyone to come see the shows!”
Cagebirds is about a group of captive pet birds and their owner, known as “the mistress”. One day, the mistress brings in a new bird, called the Wild One, and the birds’ world is turned upside down. The play is a contemporary thriller which will leave those in the audience on the edge of their seats.
This is Adams’ first year performing two different shows rather than the usual one. For the second show, AHS will be performing You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown.
You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown is a musical comedy based off the beloved Schulz characters. The entire Peanuts gang appears with heartfelt innocence, coupled with catchy songs to capture the hearts of those in the audience. Charlie Brown is anticipated to be a nostalgic show that will impact all who watches.
“I couldn’t imagine being with any other people in my senior year at Adams. The theater department has made my high school experience worthwhile, and playing Charlie Brown is an amazing way to end the year,” said senior Adam Garfinkle, portraying Charlie Brown.
In addition to the two performances at Lovefest, Adams Theater is also hosting “A Night of One Acts” for those who cannot attend the Garber High School performances. Tickets will be sold online and at the door for $5 per show or $10 to see both. Performances of the two one-acts for those who cannot come to Garber will be February 1 and 2 in the AHS Auditorium.
